Ki Fitness TRX Rave
Keep an Eye out for TRX Raves.
Did you miss the TRX Rave Saturday? It was a good one. We started off hitting the upper body with push-pull supersets, shifting between a chest press and row, then bicep curls and triceps extensions. (This is different than the push pull workout where you group all your pushing exercises into one day and all your pulling exercises into another.)
The theory behind alternating between opposing muscles (the primary mover and its antagonist alternating rolls if you prefer the fancy talk) is that the antagonist can completely rest while the primary movers are doing their work. In other words, when one muscle is working hard in one direction the muscles responsible for the opposite movement have to chill out so the working muscle can do its job. That leaves the relaxed muscle a little more rested for its turn. Therefore, you can alternate between exercises with less rest time.
I have to thank ACE Certified Personal Trainer and Certified TRX Instructor Angie Dumont for showing me the cross over lunge a few weeks ago. After some front squats and jump squats the TRX Ravers finished off their legs with this great compound movement that works the quads from two different angels. I’m sure the TRX Ravers thank you too Ang!
What is a TRX rave? A TRX rave is a TRX workout that can happen at any time. A certified TRX instructor decides that they want to run an unscheduled TRX class, picks a time, and spreads the word any way they can – Facebook, email, text, ......phone, Twitter, smoke signal… whatever. If you ...find out about a TRX rave, it is your responsibility to spread the word too. Let anyone and everyone you know that the TRX rave is on. Then, show up at KI fitness at the designated time ready for some fun and a great workout. Any KI Fitness group fitness member can show up to the TRX rave. Non-members can participate too for a $7 drop in fee. See you at the next TRX rave!
